The latest research report from the Association of Academic Health Centers (AHC), highlights a marked trend to consolidate research administration at academic health centers and thus strengthen the research infrastructure nationwide. To ensure effective planning, oversight and implementation of a broad spectrum of complex research activities, academic health center leaders are creating vice presidents of research positions with responsibilities for directing research for the entire academic health center.
