Advancing the Research Enterprise

The generation of new knowledge is a critical mission for academic health centers. Indeed, their research enterprises produce much of the world’s biomedical and clinical literature. Yet the management of research is challenged today on several fronts: new scientific paradigms, multi-institutional and multi-national teams of investigators, political issues, and maintaining economic viability.

These case studies offer frameworks for best practices that enhance the biomedical enterprise while ensuring a well-balanced and societal-relevant research mission.
