2021 Meetings

December 8 - 10, 2021

The impact of the pandemic on academic health centers and the groundbreaking research they do every day will continue in 2022 and beyond. Academic health centers continue to lead in medical breakthroughs and innovative discoveries, while experiencing changing systems and processes. The 2021 AAHC Research Meeting, themed Leveraging Lessons of the Pandemic to Accelerate Discovery, focused on experiences and lessons learned during the pandemic and how academic health centers are accelerating discovery going forward.

November 18 - 19, 2021

AAHCI Member and Southeast Regional Office Host, Universitas Indonesia Faculty of Medicine (FMUI), co-hosted a regional meeting with AAHCI under the theme of Surviving and Thriving: Innovating Through the Pandemic and Beyond. The meeting brought together members in the region at a critical time to share their perspectives and experiences.

September 27 - October 1, 2021

Academic health centers rapidly transformed to meet the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. They ramped up telehealth, worked at the forefront of vaccine development, studied new treatments for COVID-19, implemented new approaches to education, communicated extensively with the public, and did it all while taking care of the sickest patients.

This is a critical time to reflect on lessons learned and, perhaps even more importantly, to consider how those lessons can and must inform how we shape approaches to health equity, prepare for future pandemics and other crises, and even reimagine entire health systems. The all-virtual 2021 AAHC Annual Meeting explored these pressing issues and more.
