Integration, the theme of this year’s meeting, addresses the latest evolutionary phase in the organization and management of academic health centers, which is increasingly demanding (1) reorganization and transparency in strategic and financial planning; (2) cohesive, unified governance; (3) transition to a corporate management approach; (4) trans-institutional research opportunities; and (5) enhanced community/industry partnerships. Chaired by Dr. Keith Joiner, vice provost for medical affairs and dean, college of medicine, The University of Arizona, the 2008 Annual Meeting will focus on developing the new framework of integration and a variety of models will be showcased.
