This year’s International Forum brings together a global who’s who in academic health center leadership. We have confirmation from invitees in Singapore, China, UK, and the Middle East.  Collaboration and competition mark the emergence of the multinational academic health center. Organizational, governance, and management issues are critical factors for institutions throughout the world as they move to enhance and expand their educational, research, and service missions. The International Forum was established to address the intersection of the global economy with the academic health center societal mission, and to inform and educate leaders from all economic sectors and regions of the globe about the critical role academic health centers play.

In addition, we are pleased to offer this CEO-only leadership workshop immediately at the conclusion of the Spring Meeting on April 1st from 1 pm to 7 pm. The CEO Workshop will utilize the facilitative staff and the methodologies/tools of the Vanderbilt Center for Better Health (VCBH), an entity that has teamed with AAHC over the past two years to develop and offer active learning programs to teams of leaders from academic health centers.

Rather than listening to “experts” on the topics, participants will have opportunities to work with other CEOs to share their own observations and experiences, evaluate ideas, and develop strategies and action plans. This approach will speed critical thinking, resulting in a take-home product that enables participating CEOs to initiate action immediately on their return to their home institution.
