Forum on Regulation

Co-chairs: Stephanie Spangler, MD, Yale University; Cynthia Boyd, MD, MBA, Rush University Medical Center; Dr. Philip Pizzo Stanford University (also Board Liaison).
Participants: chief compliance officer/vp for compliance with academic health center or university-wide responsibilities
Purposes:
- To open a national dialogue on how regulatory processes impact the nation's academic health centers.
- To examine ways to foster development of appropriate regulatory compliance frameworks for universities and the nation.

Co-chairs: James T. Hill, MPA, University of Maryland, Baltimore; Ivan M. Lisnitzer, PE, State University of New York Downstate Medical Center; Claire Pomeroy, MD, MBA, Vice Chancellor for Human Health Sciences, University of California, Davis (Board Liaison).
Purpose: Dedicated to increasing communication and information sharing on key financial and administrative issues for academic health centers.

Co-chairs: Dr. Jeff Balser, Vanderbilt University; Dr. Arthur Levine, University of Pittsburgh (also Board Liaison).
Participants: vice presidents for research with academic health center or university-wide responsibilities.
Purposes:
- To connect with AAHC members;
- To have a venue for idea exchange and dialogue on research issues;
- To share best practices/cases with regard to research issues, structures, management, and organization;
- To examine roles and responsibilities of VPs for research and learn more about their leadership roles within the academic health center and the university (particularly because many people were new to the position, which in many instances had been newly created within the academic health center);
- To foster inter-institutional collaboration.

Co-Chairs: Barbara Atkinson, MD, University of Kansas (also Board Liaison); Susan Collingwood, JD, University of Florida; Andrea Jahn, JD, Creighton University.
Participants: senior legal counsel with academic health center or university-wide responsibilities.
Purposes:
- To have a venue for idea exchange and dialogue on legal issues specific to general counsels of academic health centers;
- To share best practices/cases with regard to broad array of legal issues;
- To foster connectivity and inter-institutional collaboration.
