AAHC conducts annual and periodic surveys of its member institutions and provides a series of summary reports based on those surveys that inform strategic management decisions. Most of these reports are available to member institutions only. These include:
- Annual Surveys
The AAHC Annual Salary Survey provides valuable data to member institutions to help them gauge their leadership’s salary levels. Select administrative positions include: Chief Executive Officers, Deans and Directors of Health Professions Schools, Hospital Chief Administrators; and Senior Administrative Officers. The confidential Salary Survey Report is distributed to select member institution leaders. Member institutions can request institution-specific analyses based on the Salary Survey data for a nominal fee.
- Benchmarks and Metrics Survey
A seminal concern providing impetus for AAHC’s benchmarks & metrics data project was the desire to determine what portion of medical schools’ total research expenditures is supported by internal institutional funds. A resultant Costs of Research report was released.
- Key Perspectives for Academic Health Center Leaders
A quarterly series of reports that presents highlights from AAHC surveys, research, and analyses relating to the academic health center tripartite mission.
Non-recurring Surveys and Reports
AAHC works closely with members to produce one-time surveys that address multiple issues impacting academic health centers. Prior surveys include: Member Profile Surveys; a Census of academic health centers that resulted in a series of Facts at a Glance concise summaries of significant data; and several miscellaneous surveys.
In addition to survey-based summaries and reports, AAHC also prepares and distributes white papers, issue briefs, and other policy analyses on a variety of topics central to the core interests of its members.
